About this app

You take a few quick photos when you collect a rental car. Weeks later a damage charge arrives, and the photos that would settle it are the ones nobody took at drop-off.

ProofKit makes that easier to get right. It walks you through the same photo checklist at pickup and at return, keeps everything organized in one place, and produces a PDF that makes sense to someone who has never used the app.

What it does

• Guided capture, one prompt at a time — front, corners, wheels, glass, interior, dashboard, existing marks. Nothing to remember while standing in a car park.
• Before and after — pair a pickup photo with its return photo and view them side by side, as an overlay, or as a plain text comparison.
• Notes and annotations — add an arrow, a box or a label to a copy. Your original photo is never altered.
• Blur what you are not sharing — faces, number plates, house numbers, documents.
• Export — a PDF summary with timestamps, notes and file digests, or a ZIP bundle containing the original files, a manifest and a verification guide.
• Quick capture — when there is no time for a checklist, capture first and file it afterwards.
• Reminders you set yourself, for a return date or to export a pack before you forget.
• Home screen widgets and launcher shortcuts for the moments when you are already late.

Stays on your device

No account. No sign-in. No cloud upload. No ads. No analytics. No crash reporting.

Photos and video are encrypted on your device with a key held in the Android Keystore. Notes, reference numbers, addresses and serial numbers are encrypted individually. Nothing leaves your phone until you choose to share it, and then only through the Android share sheet, to an app you pick.

ProofKit does not ask for your location. Imports go through the Android photo picker, so the app never gets access to your whole photo library. Video is recorded without sound. Reminders are scheduled on the device from dates you type in.

Because there is no cloud copy, ProofKit cannot recover your records if the app's data is cleared, the device is lost, or the screen lock is reset. Export anything you need to keep.

Free and Pro

The free tier covers an ordinary rental or move: three active packs, every included checklist, guided capture, comparisons, annotations, PDF export and reminders.

Pro adds unlimited packs, your own reusable checklists, ZIP bundles with the original files, advanced redaction, longer video clips and finer control over exports. Packs you have already made always stay open, exportable and deletable, whatever your subscription status.

What ProofKit does not do

ProofKit helps you organise your own documentation. It is not legal advice, and it does not create certified records. Whether any record is useful or accepted depends on the facts, the recipient, and the law where you are.

The SHA-256 digests it records can show that a file has not changed since you exported it. They cannot show when or where a photograph was taken, and they cannot establish who is responsible for anything.

There is no automatic damage detection. ProofKit puts two photos in front of you; you decide what changed.

Accessibility

Every capture, comparison and export flow works with TalkBack and at large font sizes. Annotation tools can be driven with buttons rather than gestures, comparisons have a text equivalent alongside the visual one, and nothing depends on distinguishing colors.
