Assimilation Chess is a chess variant built on familiar chess movement, check, checkmate, castling, en passant, and promotion rules. The twist is that every non-king capture transforms the attacker into the captured piece type while keeping its original color.
A pawn that captures a queen becomes a queen. A queen that captures a pawn becomes a pawn. A knight that captures a rook becomes a rook. Kings still capture as kings.
Play local pass-and-play, learn the transformation rule in the tutorial, test tactics against legal-move bots, and take games online with server-validated moves. Casual and ranked ratings are separate, ranked games require an account, and bot games do not affect player ratings.
