About this app

Explore the most popular trails and routes around the world while staying connected to your friends & family back home with our Check-in feature.

WORKS COMPLETELY OFFLINE
Each guide works completely offline, even in airplane mode. It uses your mobile device's internal GPS to display your location and guide you along the trail no matter where you are. Whether you go on a day hike, section hike, or thru hike, FarOut will help you find your way. The majority of thru-hikers use our app on America's Triple Crown trails which include the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, and Continental Divide Trail.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS CAN FOLLOW YOUR ADVENTURE
Invite friends and family to follow you on your adventure. Drop Check-ins along the trail and leave updates to let your followers know you're safe. Adjust your privacy settings, approve followers, find friends to follow, and manage check-ins in the Social menu.

This guide has changed my hiking game! Just used it for a week long trip and with some nasty blowdowns it was hard to pick up the trail but having the app helped me guide back to the trail on a couple occasions. Also a life saver in finding water sources!! I would know when I needed to top off all bottles or carry light with water. I'm not a tech savvy person but I highly recommend trying this out if hiking any of the trails in the app!

info sometimes unreliable, some places don't exist anymore, supplemented by the comments thankfully. i wish it would remember my last recorded location after i disable location services instead of how eagerly it forgets. i wish you could easily scroll back to the top of the comments without the scroll carrying on to close the location selection you're looking at. i wish the list was fully in mileage order, instead of the spur trails being listed at the end. custom elevation colors would be nice

Overall invaluable to Hikers! World like maps to auto load when you searching between sections of the map. Moving back and forth when you're at the end/beginning is tedious. Also would really love the ability to pick a start and stop point and get data when planning ahead for future days! When sitting at a hostel, it would make the planning easier. But overall, we love it! OMG! I never knew that existed!! Watched the video and just planned a route. That's so helpful. Thank you!
