So-o-o glad I only spent $2.99 for a map to learn this app doesn't work. In v14.9.2, if I add a waypoint doing a long press (as a popup directs), there's no way to edit it - can't add name, coordinates, icon, etc. Forget the online tutorials. The UI and steps in the video don't match what I'm seeing on my phone, as though I'm working with a different app. Back to my custom maps in CalTopo!

App is adequate for following back-country trails, but it has a lot more mistakes and a lot less topographic coverage than other mapping apps. FarOut 's biggest strength is its public comments feature, which allows the user to know more about what is ahead. For instance, "Does the upcoming water source have water or is it dry?"

Unreliable. I have talked to a lot of hikers on trail who have had similar experiences. The app signs you out randomly, and if you don't have service to sign back in, you are left without the maps you paid for. Edit: I had already contacted support. They had me uninstall and reinstall the app. It changed the appearance for a day and prompted me 4 times to rate their app in the first week. Edit 2: I got signed out again on 8/11 and it took 3 days to get signed in because I didn't have connection
