About this app

Foragers Log is a free UK foraging companion: identify wild plants and
mushrooms, log what you find, and see what's in season on a map that
knows where you are.

No account needed to get started. Open the app and browse the map and
the full field guide straight away.

Works with no permissions
Grant nothing and the app still works. Without location access, search
any town or postcode to find yourself on the map. Without gallery
access, you can still log a find; you just set its location by hand and
skip the photo. Nothing is required to browse the map or the field
guide.

Field guide
340+ illustrated entries for UK wild food and fungi: identification
characteristics, habitat, harvest seasons, hazards and care. Every entry
links out to sources you can check for yourself, including Wikipedia,
the RHS and the Wildlife Trusts. Each one has a "commonly confused with"
section covering the lookalikes that actually matter, including toxic
species, graded by severity, so you know what you're ruling out. Jump
straight from any entry to where that species has been found on the map.

Identify what you've found
Search the catalogue, add your own entry, or use Pl@ntNet AI photo
identification for ranked species suggestions. Every find records how it
was identified, so the shared map stays honest.

Log your finds
Drop a pin, add a photo and notes, and choose whether a find stays
private or goes on the shared map. Public locations are anonymised, so
your patch stays your patch. Find any spot again with a What3Words
address, or get a bearing and distance to navigate back.

A map that knows the season
See what's croppable near you right now, filter by plant type,
readiness, or forager, and search anywhere in the UK by town or
postcode. This isn't a calendar guessing at your region. It's what other
foragers have actually recorded on the ground, this week. Blackberries,
elderflower, wild garlic, sloes, hedgerow herbs, nuts and mushrooms.

Track how a patch changes
Record observations over time: in leaf, in flower, fruiting, ripe, or
nothing there today. Your notes keep the map's seasonal status up to
date and build a real record of your patches, year after year.

Forage responsibly
Protected and restricted areas are drawn on the map with their
designations and sources, alongside a plain-English guide to UK foraging
law. We tell you what the rules are and let you make the call.

Communities
Create a private group, invite friends by email, and pool your spots on
a shared community map. Discover local groups within 50 miles of you, or
keep yours private and invite-only.
