About this app

This app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to notify you when it may be possible to see the northern lights (aurora borealis / australis).

It provides configurable notifications for local aurora probability, Kp-index (Hp30), solar wind parameters (Bz/Bt) and Kp-level forecast for the evening.

It also allows you to be alerted when other app users nearby have seen the aurora light display. For the alert feature to work, the app allows uploading aurora reports when you are successful hunting and get to see the aurora light display yourself.

The premium version which can be bought within the app itself offers some more technical information and graphs of Kp-index predictions, cloud cover and solar wind parameters - and some hidden features.

I just upgraded and was very disappointed. I paid the money in the only thing that changed was there's a little red dot on the picture of the globe showing where I am (I already know where I am) and then for the maps showing a forecast they post a link that's not associated with the app! This is very sad Aurora Notifier!!! If there's something more, let me know please!

Sorry to hear. More features have been added to the app and to the premium upgrade since you posted this. The red dot is not related to the premium upgrade and just indicates if the app has permission to see your location or not.

Much improved and revamped as of May 2023 this is my go to app for Aurora chasing now. Also picks up on local sightings so you can head off with some confirmation that "it's on !". Heaps of data and loved the graphics.

Works well, I might upgrade to premium but I don't see any place we are told what that gets us or how much it is. So I don't upgrade. Thanks for the response, bought.

Most things are available in the free version, but those who upgrade to premium contribute to making it possible to further develop the app. In the current version, a premium upgrade will give you another tab with some more advanced plots. It will also give you a different 3d animation in the globe tab when you tilt the phone to the side.
