About this app

You send a copy of your ID for a rental application, a job application, a new bank account. Once it is gone, that copy gets forwarded, backed up, forgotten in a mailbox. You no longer control it.

DocSafe prepares the document before you send it: a watermark stating who it was given to and why, compression down to the size the form demands, and an export to PDF or JPG. All of it on your phone, with nothing uploaded anywhere.

YOUR DOCUMENT NEVER LEAVES YOUR PHONE

Online watermarking services ask you to upload your ID to a server in order to protect it from a leak. DocSafe does not. Reading, watermarking, compression and PDF generation all happen on the device. No account, no server, no sync. The app's only network connection is the one ads need, and nothing from your document travels over it.

WHAT THE APP DOES

• Watermark burned into the pixels of the image, never a PDF layer that comes off in three clicks
• Six ready-made templates: rental, job, bank, vehicle, government, or free text
• Protected area: draw a rectangle over a QR code, a barcode or the MRZ strip and the watermark flows around it. Watermarked documents are often rejected because a code became unreadable
• Target-size compression: 500 KB, 1 MB, 2 MB, 5 MB or your own value. The app looks for the best trade-off, and warns you when the target would make the document unreadable instead of handing you a useless file
• Camera with a guide frame, edge detection and perspective correction when the photo is taken at an angle
• Multi-page PDF or JPG export, direct sharing or saving wherever you choose
• EXIF metadata stripped on import: a photo taken at home carries the GPS coordinates of your home
• English and French, light, dark or system theme

WHAT THE APP DOES NOT DO

No account, no subscription, no in-app purchase, no cap on documents, pages or exports, and no feature locked behind an ad. Nothing is written to your gallery without an explicit action from you.

WHAT A WATERMARK CAN AND CANNOT DO

A watermark is not foolproof: photo editing software or an AI can remove it. Its value is deterrent and evidential — it discourages reuse of a copy and helps show who that copy had been given to. We would rather say so plainly.

WHEN TO USE IT

Rental applications, job applications, opening a bank account, renting a vehicle, government paperwork, sending proof of address — any procedure that asks for a copy of your ID, often under an imposed file size.
