Play the tabla, the hand drum at the heart of Indian classical music, on your phone or tablet. Every stroke you hear is a studio recording of a real tabla, so the drums answer the way the instrument does: deep and open in the center, sharp and short at the rim.

- Syahi: the dark center of the head, for the full main tone
- Kinar: the outer rim, for the crisp, short edge stroke

About the Instrument
The tabla is the main rhythm instrument of Indian classical music. The larger, deeper drum is the bayan and the smaller, higher one is the dayan. The syahi at the center of the head gives the full main tone, while the kinar at the rim gives a thinner, shorter stroke. This app samples both zones separately, so the drums behave like the real instrument instead of repeating a single sample.
