Pocket Pool is eight-ball pool the way you know it from the big pool games: the table lies across the screen, you turn the cue with a finger, pull it back and let go. Play other people online, a friend with a table code, the computer, or a friend on the same phone. Without internet everything but the online tables keeps working.
HOW TO PLAY
- Drag anywhere on the table to turn the cue, or tap where you want to aim. A guide shows where the cue ball meets the object ball and where each will go
- Roll the wheel on the right to turn the cue a hair at a time
- Pull the cue on the left down and let go to shoot - the further you pull, the harder the shot
- Tap the cue ball at the top to choose where the tip strikes: follow, draw or side spin
- With the ball in hand, drag the cue ball where you want it
EIGHT-BALL RULES, KEPT SIMPLE
- The table is open until someone pockets a ball after the break - that decides solids and stripes
- Hit one of your own balls first
- A scratch, a miss, the wrong ball first, or a hit after which nothing reaches a cushion is a foul: your opponent gets the ball in hand
- Clear your seven, then pocket the 8 to win
- Pocket the 8 too early, or foul while pocketing it, and you lose the frame
- A 30-second shot clock keeps the frame moving - switch it off if you like to take your time
- For a stricter game, switch on "call the pocket" for the 8
WAYS TO PLAY
- Online: one tap finds an opponent; no account, no sign-up, no chat
- A friend online: open a table, pass on the five-letter code
- After an online frame: ask for a rematch at the same table, or look for a new opponent
- Against the computer: Easy, Medium or Hard. It lines up its shots where you can see them, so you always know what it is about to try
- Two players, one phone: pass it back and forth
- Practice: no opponent, no rules to break, just the table
CUES AND COINS
- Every frame against the computer or online pays coins - more for a win, most online, and a bonus once a day
- Eight cues, each with four plain numbers: Force, Aim, Spin and Time
- Buy a cue with your coins and upgrade it step by step
- Try any cue for 10 minutes by watching a video, before you save up for it
- Nothing is ever staked and nothing costs real money
REAL BALL BEHAVIOUR
- Balls slide, then roll; a full hit stops the cue ball, follow sends it on, draw brings it back
- Side spin kicks the cue ball off the cushions
- Balls rattle in the jaws of a pocket if you clip the cushion
- The break scatters the whole rack
- Numbers and stripes turn as the balls roll
GOOD TO KNOW
- Your frame is saved automatically - close the game any time and carry on later
- Take back your last shot by watching a video (against the computer and in practice)
- The computer now plays follow and draw, and on Hard it finds pots off a cushion
- Sound can be switched off
- Wins and losses against each level, and your best run of balls, are kept
- No account; internet only for the online tables
- English, German, French, Italian and Spanish
Pocket Pool is free and shows ads. Video ads are always your choice.
