Battery killer Nice app but it drains the battery faster than an elephant empties a fish bowl, even when it's not playing. I was on, but not playing when I was charging over night but the charge only went up to 55% and the phone was very hot. The battery has dropped 5% just wile typing this short review (not playing a audio book). Ivm not sure if I will finish my rental before uninstalling this app.
Had to rewrite my review. Fine for iPad and computer, but I own an Android and that is where I listen to most books. On Andriod, it is a resource hog, drains my battery in 4 hours WITHOUT USING THA APP! Looked at battery usage and it was 50% of all apps! App stops playing and I can't quickly fix it while driving. According to Support this is due to a known Bluetooth issue. Perfect. Since I am an Android user, this is the last book I will rent, I can't get past chapter 2.
Disappointing. I prefer Audible. Downpour tricks you into thinking it's cheaper than audible, but it's not. It is $13/month, $2 cheaper than Audible, but so many of the books cost 2 credits when the same book is only 1 credit at Audible. You're paying more. The app interface is basic, you can't search the store which is a pain. The selection isn't very good either. It's a rip off. Go to the library or go to Audible.
By far worst audiobook app I've tried Had to come to it because audible was missing 1 book of a series I wanted. It freezes about 20 seconds into play. Have to close all apps and reopen to attempt the next 20 seconds or so. Clicking play or rewinding do nothing to get it to play over a previous spot.
Awful app Downpour (the service) is great. Good deals, flexible buying options, choice to rent an audiobook for super cheap and, I'd you do purchase, everything is DRM free which is a huge plus. But..... The app sucks. Playback goes silent after a few minutes when playing over Bluetooth in he car. The options menu has no options. The app continuously drains battery whether playing a book or not (making my phone die within hours). No store integration. Variable playback speed doesn't work well. Fix please!
Problems with downloads I hoped the app would make it easier to listen to items in my library when it wasn't convenient to download to my computer and transfer to my phone. But my experience so far is that it has trouble downloading. I was never able to download the final track of the first book I attempted to use the app for. Another book wouldn't download the final track until I had completed all others, and I'm having difficulty getting others to download any tracks.
