About this app

The Chargie app controls your Chargie hardware dongle, which is a smart charging limiter and scheduler for overnight or very long charging sessions.

Charging your phone every night to 100% and holding it there for 8 hours at a time is one of the main culprits behind early battery drop in capacity. Chargie helps prolong battery health.

Our solution is an app+hardware phone charge limiter that makes your battery last for much longer than if you had charged it regularly to 100% all night, every night.

Here's how it works:

1. Get your Chargie USB device from https://chargie.org.
2. Insert the Chargie device between your phone and power adapter.
3. Install the app on your phone and let it connect to the Chargie dongle.
4. Set the charge percentage you need for the next day and schedule the time you want it to happen.
5. Go to sleep.

Chargie takes control of the power flow following an algorithm that decreases battery temperature and voltage related stress, throughout the 8 hours of nighttime charging.

With Chargie, your phone not only lasts for more years, but has also a much lower carbon footprint. Present-day smartphones are still a good fit even after three years, if their performance is not throttled by the OS because of poor battery health.

Moreover, you'll be able to resell your old phone for more when you decide to change it, because it will be Chargie Certified, and this will be a guarantee of the protection of its battery.

We have DHL shipping available, so you can get your Chargie tomorrow if you live in NY or anywhere in the EU. If not, shipping takes 3 days at most, in any part of the world, so you can be up and running in no time.

Location Data and Bluetooth Permissions

For the purpose of enhancing functionality and providing you with the full spectrum of features offered by Chargie – phone charge limiter, our app requires access to your device’s location services. On Android devices running older versions, location permissions are necessary for scanning for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices (the FINE_LOCATION and COARSE_LOCATION permissions). This is a requirement by the Android operating system, not a specific choice by our application. Android only accesses your location data only when you are actively using the app to search for BLE devices. We do not store or share this information with third parties. This process is critical for identifying nearby BLE devices that you may wish to connect to for optimizing your device’s charging process. We are committed to ensuring the security and privacy of your data, employing industry-standard practices to protect the information collected.

Only works about 75% of the time. The other 25%, it doesn't charge at all. I bought 2 devices and wish I could return them, but it's past the return window now. Would be happy with them if they actually worked reliably. *Response to comment: I do not use a Qi device, I never wirelessly charge my phone. I always charge directly from the Chargie device to my phone via USB-C. Newer response: I used the beta program as suggested and it charges even less often, I no longer use Chargie at all.

Consider joining the beta channel, we will publish updates more frequently there. Our last submission for the production version is a week old and Google still hasn't approved it. Great idea, but the Bluetooth scanning is unreliable. I bought two units (they are not cheap) for an iPad and an Android device, and on the iPad, more often than not, in the morning we discover that the device has spent the night at 100% (basically exactly what I was trying to avoid in the first place). Sadly, the app has a non intuitive interface (whether on iOS or on Android) and the developers never answer emails.

I eventually solved a problem I had with my unit, no thanks to support; I submitted a support ticket over a week ago and still haven't received a response. The app is also really fussy (constantly force-closes when the attached device is fully charged; charge scheduling is usually behind schedule and some options for it don't seem to do anything). It's good enough for me, but I'd recommend that others just stick with whatever battery management solutions are built into their phones.
