Blinda is an application for blind and partially sighted users offering streaming of thousands of audiobooks. Active internet connection is required.
Audiobooks are currently available in German, Slovene and Croatian. The Blinda mobile application enables users cross-border exchange of all included audiobooks.
Blinda offers an intuitive interface which is accessible both for the blind as well as partially sighted users. It allows browsing, borrowing and streaming of thousands of audiobooks. It includes an audiobook player with features such as faster and slower playback speed, skip and jump forward and backward functions and view chapters.
All audiobooks are arranged into different categories which allow easier navigation and a quicker search between thousands of titles.
Blind users can navigate the app using voice synthesis, while partially sighted users can take advantage of zoom and increased text size features. Voice synthesis works with Android TalkBack accessibility tools.
Users can borrow up to 5 audiobooks per day and up to 30 audiobooks per month. Each audiobook can be borrowed for up to 30 days. The app also offers automatic return of borrowed audiobooks after expiration.
At the moment, registration is only available to eligible users from Germany, Slovenia and Croatia. Eligible users are blind and partially sighted individuals from Germany, Slovenia and Croatia, who are granted access to accessible formats (including audiobooks) in accordance with the Marrakesh treaty and the national legislation of the user’s country of residence.
