About this app
Bok Storage Manager frees up internal storage by moving photos, videos and downloaded files to your SD card. Moving to an SD card needs a phone with an SD card slot; the Clean-up tab (large files, duplicates, similar photos) works without one. It is not a file browser or file editor.
■ Manual clean-up
- Pick folders that contain files (DCIM, Download, Pictures, Movies, KakaoTalk and more) and move them to the same path on your SD card in one go.
- File type: all files / images and videos only / documents only
- Scope: everything / only files older than 7 days
- If a file with the same name already exists: rename with (1) / overwrite / skip
- Before moving, the app shows the size to be moved and the free space on the SD card, and warns you if there is not enough room.
- Progress is shown in the notification shade. You can pause or cancel; files already moved stay where they are.
- The top of the screen shows internal and SD card usage and how much the current settings would free up.
■ Smart Auto
- Moves files automatically only when internal free space drops below a level you choose (5-50%).
- Checks about every 6 hours, or once a day at a time you pick.
- Can be limited to run only while charging.
- A retention period (1-90 days) keeps recent files on internal storage.
- Uses the folders and file type chosen on the Manual tab.
- Sends a result notification when done (can be turned off).
■ Clean-up: large files, duplicates, similar photos
- Large files: files of 50 MB or more, biggest first. You choose what to delete.
- Duplicates: files with exactly the same content are grouped. The oldest file in each group is kept and the rest are pre-selected. Files under 100 KB are skipped.
- Similar photos: photos taken within a few minutes that look alike are grouped. Nothing is pre-selected.
- On Android 11 and later, deleted files go to the system trash and can be restored for 30 days. On Android 10 and earlier they are deleted permanently, so the app asks you to confirm first.
- Scanning happens on your device; files and photos are never uploaded.
■ History
Each moved file is logged with its name, original location, new location, size, time and result (success, failed or skipped). Filter by all, today, images and video, or documents, and clear the history at any time.
■ Safety
- The original is deleted only after the copy is confirmed to be the same size.
- Will not start below 30% battery and stops if the battery drops below 5% during a move, telling you how many files were already moved.
- Stops and notifies you if the SD card is removed during a move.
- Keeps the original dates of moved photos and videos and asks the system to rescan them so the gallery updates right away.
- Hidden folders and thumbnail or cache folders are not moved.
■ Good to know
- Some messenger apps such as KakaoTalk remember a file's old location, so photos and videos may no longer appear in older chats after moving. The app shows this notice before your first move.
- On Android 11 and later, the "All files access" permission is required to delete the originals. Files are moved only within your device and are never sent to a server.
- On first use you need to choose the destination folder on your SD card.
- Only folders from the app's built-in list that contain files can be moved. Adding your own folder is not available yet.
- The app shows banner ads. There are no purchases; every feature is free.
