About this app

Team Austria Lifesavers

What it's about and how you can be part of it!

In Austria, around 10,000 people suffer respiratory arrest every year outside of a hospital, and only one in ten survives. The reason: CPR is rarely started in time. Although helpful people are often nearby, they do not hear the cries for help. With the help of our “Team Austria Life Saver” project, this should change in the future by allowing first responders in the area to be alerted via an app.

Team Austria Lifesavers: A team of helpful people

We bring together first aiders who want to use their first aid knowledge for others in the “Team Austria Life Saver”. The team members install an app on their smartphone that allows them to receive emergency calls from their surroundings. If a call for help is received, the first responders can immediately run to the emergency scene and begin chest compressions.

Who can take part?

It hasn't been more than two years since your first aid course... or you are an active paramedic with valid authorization to practice under the Paramedic Act (SanG.)
You own a smartphone (Android, iOs).
If your first aid course was more than two years ago, then register for a first aid course.

How can I participate?

*) Say to Team Austria that you want to become a Team Austria lifesaver.
You will receive a welcome email with a link to the APP store.

*) Install the free “Team Austria Lifesaver App” from the store here.

*) Download the self-declaration below

https://www.teamoesterreich.at/docs/LR-Self-declaration.pdf

Download it, sign it and upload it under “Upload documents”.

*) Take a photo of your photo ID and upload it

*) Take a photo of your first aid certificate (paramedic: proof of your valid authorization to practice according to SanG) and upload this too (you can of course also upload a saved PDF)

*) You will be contacted by your responsible Red Cross office.

Where is the system already in operation?

Please note that the system is currently running in Vienna, Tyrol, Lower Austria, Burgenland, Upper Austria, Salzburg and Vorarlberg.

However, we are quickly expanding the system and will keep you informed about the expansion status.

What do I do if I don't live in an area where the system is already in operation?

You can still register and we will contact you when the system is operational in your region.

Why is the system not activated immediately throughout Austria?

In order to alert you, the system must be connected to a control center. This work is done step by step and takes some time.

The data listed in the “Data security” section as “shared with third-party companies or organizations” is only shared with the responsible control center during an operation.
