About this app

Buddha Speech reads Buddhist sutras and mantras aloud, so you can listen instead of staring at a screen.

Choose a sutra, press play, and the text is read line by line while the current line is highlighted and scrolled into view. It fits morning and evening practice, the commute, chores around the house, or quiet listening before sleep.

■ Sutras included
- Heart Sutra (Prajnaparamita Hridaya)
- Diamond Sutra (Vajracchedika)
- Universal Gate Chapter (Avalokitesvara)
- Amitabha Sutra
- Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Sutra (all 13 chapters)
- Infinite Life Sutra (all 48 chapters)
- Lotus Sutra (Saddharma Pundarika)
- Shurangama Sutra, Lankavatara Sutra, Sutra of Perfect Enlightenment
- Avatamsaka Sutra (Flower Ornament Sutra, all 80 volumes)
- Vimalakirti Sutra, Dhammapada, Sutra of Forty-Two Chapters
- Bequeathed Teachings Sutra, Eight Realizations Sutra, and more
18 sutras in total, spanning more than 260 volumes and chapters.

■ Mantras included
Great Compassion Mantra, Rebirth Mantra, Medicine Buddha Mantra, Cundi Mantra, Disaster-Averting Mantra, Avalokitesvara Mantra, Manjushri Mantra, Green Tara Mantra, Wish-Fulfilling Wheel Dharani, Repentance Verse, and others - 16 in all.

■ Features
- Read aloud: uses your phone's text-to-speech, line by line, scrolling automatically
- Accent: Mandarin (Taiwan), Mandarin (China), or Cantonese (Hong Kong)
- Traditional or Simplified Chinese characters, switchable at any time
- Adjustable speed and pitch to find a pace that suits you
- Loop the whole sutra for extended recitation
- Repeat a single line, for memorizing or reading along
- Bookmark: come back later and continue where you left off
- Background playback: keeps reading with the screen off
- Dark mode and adjustable text size, easy on the eyes at night

■ Works completely offline
Every sutra and mantra is bundled inside the app. No internet connection is needed and no mobile data is used, so it works on a plane, in a temple, or anywhere with poor reception.

■ About the voice
Reading aloud uses the Google text-to-speech service on your device. If the app reports that voice data is missing on first launch, follow the on-screen prompt to download the matching Chinese voice.

Namo Amitabha.
