Cellular dead spots no longer mean you cannot stay in contact. When a message is important, we want you to be able to send it.

And in an emergency, you have a reliable means to raise the alarm - day or night, wherever you are*, you can reach the response center via satellite and get the help you need.

Seems to work. Still has some bugs and I don't know how much I would depend on it as my only rescue device, but improved in recent releases. Service at this price is an excellent value. (black Friday $60 deal). upgraded a star. If the bugs were fixed, this would probably be 4 stars. If it was also stress free it could be 5 stars.

Setup your account before your trip! My device and app has and continues to work as advertised. The device for now is just a SMS, tracking and SOS, nothing more. The price of the subscription is worth adding satellite communications to a standard smart phone. If you're looking for maps and weather from this device, it isn't designed for that but I understand new devices under this brand may offer that in the future

logs out randomly for no good reason and an internet connection is required to log back in -- and sometimes it still won't allow it. Buggy, freezes, and unreliable. I regret buying the yearly plan because if I can't even get this to work at my house, with internet, I surely won't be able to use it in the boonies. At the moment, for example, I'm stuck in a log-in loop passwords recognized, and the "get code via text" option not texting. Just because I turned device off, it seems.
