Ratings and reviews

While I really like this app, I cannot give it full stars because of a BAFFLING choice to not have a section-by-section way to review vocab. A list of vocab or flash cards would be great, but you will need to make those yourself, unfortunately. EDIT: This is an especially big deal for those not learning a language with a similar alphabet to English (eg Spanish, German, French). For instance, Japanese learners learning the kanji for vocabulary may not be comfortable writing the kanji accurately.

The Japanese course is really nice. I'm actually learning a lot, which is a welcome change from Duolingo. I don't like how you can fail matching games completely by making one mistake. I also don't like that checkpoints don't extend your streak. Exercises that require you to complete a sentence word by word should tell you what the sentence is trying to say in English first - they often include entirely new words.

I started out really liking the app. It's really solid at first but the lack of practice makes it only really good for learning grammar. if you've used Duolingo, it has the opposite problem. The most frustrating thing for me though, is that they keep adding features behind a paywall that I can't access, despite having bought a lifetime premium license for $40...because now there is a platinum tier, that includes the premium tier but is subscription only.
