Then, download Canopy Shield on any Android phone or Chromebook that you want to protect. Permissions:
• This app uses Accessibility services to build an excellent device experience that helps users with behavioral disabilities set appropriate levels of access and monitoring of screen time, web content and apps, in order to limit their risks and enjoy life normally.
Be assured that the monitoring is private and no 3rd parties will be aware of it.

• Draw Over Other Apps: This app uses this permission to draw block screens on top of apps you choose to block.

• Usage Access: This app uses this permission to detect which application is opened so we have a suit filtration in it.

• This app uses the Device Administrator permission (BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN) in order to allow parents to enable uninstall protection and prevent their children from uninstalling the app without their knowledge and consent.
Please note that this is an optional functionality as per user requirement. WE DO NOT ENABLE THIS FEATURE BY DEFAULT.
You will always be able to uninstall the application: on the app's home page - click on "Uninstall application", submit your password (if required) - and the application will be removed.

• When a child uses our app, VPNservice will be used so that relevant content the child tries to access will first securely pass through the filters in our remote servers. We can then determine whether or not the content is inappropriate and should be blocked.

Ratings and reviews

It needs improvement (badly) as of right now (07-05-2024) in many ways, but the Canopy support team is always friendly, helpful, and supportive whenever I call them, and at least you get to talk to a real person immediately instead of a machine for 15 mins just to get to a real person. Then, on every occasion, they have worked hard to solve my problems until they are resolved. I highly recommend Canopy for this reason. Here's to hoping that someday they will work out all the kinks for 5 stars!

the app works to block things yes. however, it causes the loading of other apps and things you dont need or want to block to be slow. example: quite often it will slow down the opening of financial apps that I use. this is highly annoying (I know Canopy is the cause because when I turn it off the apps work at normals speed). it also for some reason kept wanting to install an app for me when I didnt want it. lastly the downtime settings feature doesn't work well - too slow to initiate changes

the biggest problem is that adult users are forced to choose between protection and against software that renders most other apps and websites unusable... for example Walmart , Rocket Money , Your Daily Spending and others. on top of that it seems like this has been a reoccurring issue going back years that developers are either unwilling or unable to solve. Honestly its total 🗑️ TRASH if you are an adult, look elsewhere.
