Ice Box - Freeze and hide apps rarely used.

If your device is already rooted, you can install and use it directly.
If there is no root, you need to go through a very complicating operations to enable Ice Box.

After setting up with the help of computer Ice Box will grant the "Device Owner" permission to freeze/defrost apps.
Please do not grant "Device Administrator" permission manually on phone and it will not work.
You can uninstall IceBox in its settings anytime if you do not want to use it anymore.


Ice Box is a box to freeze and store the apps you rarely used.

Apps in box will be HIDDEN from launcher and won't be able to steal your battery or cellular data in background. You can easily launch them from Ice Box, just like launch from a home screen folder. They'll be frozen automatically after screen lock or back to launcher and can't do anything in background.

Long press single icon, or drag to select multiple icons to:
- Run App.
- Freeze/Defrost app.
- View App's detail.
- Open on Google Play.
- Uninstall.

- Freeze All + Lock Screen
- Defrost and Run Specific App

Ratings and reviews

Requires a subscription for real use. Free version will only freeze 5 apps, which of course is inadequate so free version is just try before you buy. "Buy" means a monthly subscription. I don't mind paying a fee to buy a good app, but I refuse to ever pay a subscription, so this app is out of the running for me. Pro but "world" developer has materials in Chinese or Japanese and broken English, so there's that. It did run OK for me. I don't have root but was able to follow the instructions.

No longer works. I use it a lot for probably a couple years now. I like it. But now, Android has started to just say the app is not responding and asks me to wait or close. I had this happen for the first time a week ago. I had to completely uninstall and reinstall and had to recreate all my shortcuts on my launcher. Super annoying. I don't want to bother reinstalling. Also, it's not as though it can't get root. Root works fine on my phone with every other app. IceBox isn't even requesting root.

Scared the cr@p out of me. Had this installed for nearly a year... or maybe longer. A few days ago I couldn't recall why I installed this and wasn't 100% certain what this would do so I froze almost every installed app to see what would happen. Nearly every icon vanished from my home screen and I was locked out of most of the features of my launcher. Immediately removed all apps from the ice box and all apps returned to Android's menu (but my custom home screen icons were wiped out). Uninstalled ice box. Four days later I try reinstalling but fail because phone is not compatible with newest version of app. I realized how useful having had this on my phone for so long had been. Was set it and forget it to stop annoying apps from annoying me. Once I uninstalled Ice Box the apps started annoying me all over again. Now to find an old version and reinstall it so Ice box can rescue me. Again. An easy five stars...as long as you know what this is for :/
