The S700 Hybrid taximeter combines the best of features of a soft-meter along with the robust performance and accuracy of a traditional taximeter. The NTEP-approved meter consists of two parts: the S700 (H) hardware black box, and the TA App.
The S700 (H) black box is a highly secure platform within which all of the time and distance measuring is performed. This design prevents issues from arising due to temporary loss of communications between the S700 (H) and the TA.
The TA App is the graphical user interface for of the S700 Hybrid taximeter. The display of the Fare and Extras is fully compliant with NCWM standards. Some of the many features of the TA are:
- The TA can be configured to operate in full-screen mode or as an "always-in-font", semi-transparent window. This allows the drivers to use other Apps (dispatch, payment, mapping) while the meter is running.
- The TA can also be configured to communicate with other Apps. This gives those Apps access to the meter state and Fare information.
- The meter rates and options are loaded directly to the S700 (H) hardware from Centrodyne's Cloud Metering platform using secure, end-to-end encryption.
- There are 8 programmable rates, including tax, discount or surcharge.
- The meter can be configured for auto-rate changes based on time-of-day, distance, etc.
- Extras can be programmed to be selectable from a dropdown menu, allowing only specific amounts for the Extras.
- S700 (H) firmware, rates and TA options can be updated remotely, without having to bring the taxi back to the shop.
- Receipts can be emailed to customers, or, a Centordyne S160 printer can be attached to the S700 (H) to print paper copies.
- Where allowed by regulation, the TA features a negotiated flat rate that can be entered by the driver.
- Where required by regulation the TA features an electronic seal in addition to the standard audit trail.
