About this app

FizziQ is a free science measurement, data logging and experimentation app for smartphones and tablets.

It turns your device into a portable science laboratory with more than 50 instruments and experimental tools to measure, record, analyze and document physical phenomena.

MEASURE WITH YOUR SMARTPHONE

Use your smartphone or tablet as a sound level meter, decibel meter, frequency meter, audio spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, light meter, lux meter, colorimeter, accelerometer, gyroscope, inclinometer, compass, barometer, altimeter, GPS data logger or magnetometer.

Measure sound level, frequency, light intensity, color, acceleration, rotation, orientation, atmospheric pressure, altitude, speed, location and magnetic field strength.

Results are displayed in real time as values, tables or graphs. Record several quantities simultaneously to compare how they change over time.

ANALYZE MOTION FROM VIDEO

FizziQ includes tools for video motion analysis, kinematics and chronophotography.

Track the position of an object frame by frame to study its trajectory, position, velocity, acceleration, rotation and energy.

Use your own videos, choose an experiment from the built-in library, or convert a video into a chronophotograph to display the successive positions of a moving object.

CONNECT EXTERNAL SENSORS

Extend your laboratory by connecting external sensors through Bluetooth or compatible interfaces.

FizziQ works with Arduino, micro:bit and FizziQ Connect. Depending on the hardware used, you can measure temperature, CO2, humidity, pressure, light intensity, electric current, magnetic field and other physical quantities.

GENERATE SIGNALS AND TRIGGER MEASUREMENTS

FizziQ also includes tools for producing and controlling experimental phenomena:

• multi-frequency sound synthesizer;
• color synthesizer;
• sound library;
• sound, light and motion timers;
• interval timer and automatic triggers.

These tools make it easier to run repeatable experiments and start measurements at the right moment.

CREATE A SCIENCE NOTEBOOK

Combine measurements, graphs, tables, photographs, text, comments and formulas in one integrated science notebook.

The experiment notebook records the complete scientific process, from observations and measurements to analysis and conclusions.

FOLLOW AND CREATE SCIENCE ACTIVITIES

FizziQ provides ready-to-use science activities and experimental protocols for studying sound, light, motion, color, pressure, magnetism and many other phenomena.

You can also create your own protocols and share them using QR codes.

EXPORT AND SHARE RESULTS

Export measurements, graphs and experiment reports as CSV, PDF, JPG and FIZ files for further analysis, reporting or sharing.

FOR CLASSROOMS, LABORATORIES AND FIELDWORK

FizziQ can be used in middle school, high school, higher education, laboratories, at home or in the field.

The app is designed for students, teachers, science educators and anyone who wants to explore science using a smartphone or tablet.

I'll raise my review to a 5 if I can just get one feature. Under motion analysis, a new tool simply called video analysis. It loads a video just like video motion analysis does, but there is no tracking tools at all. Just a play button and a left and right button that will advance one frame forward or backward, along with the frame time to three decimal places. This is because I do video analysis of things that aren't moving sometimes. Like the reading on a voltmeter as a capacitor discharges.

Hi John, many thanks for taking the time to review FizziQ. Agreed, this is definitely worth adding as a specific instrument. Currently there is the possibility to advance frame by frame in the motion analysis using the lower control button and the arrows, and the time of frame is in ms. Best regards, the FizziQ Team.

App that helped me learning and understand much more about my phone, its gear, how to conduct and assess the mesures, and eventually greatly help me understand physical phenomenon that were still a little bit obscure to me! I recommend warmly!

Excellent, you can use it in the classroom (no ads, no internet connection needed) with your students and, using the mobile technology (smartphones, tables), conduct amazing science experiments. Measure, take notes, screenshots, record and even connect to other devices like micro:bit!!! Bravo!!!
