A little under a year ago, I was thinking about programming a basic openings repertoire maker/trainer for myself. I had come up with a list of features I wanted, and was getting ready to start coding when I ran across Chessbook. It turns out that this app was everything I was looking for and more! It's also under active development, and keeps getting better. I would consider this app the definitive way to truly learn your openings.

Great app, you can get a lot out of it for free especially as a lower level player. Because let's be honest, most players don't need more than 100 lines for each color. However I give 4 stars because it's missing some kind of notification system. It will give you a game to review and moves to practice but I would an option to be reminded.

Not perfect, and still needs a lot of work. I don't normally subscribe to services like these but if you put work into this tool, it basically replaces all your paid chess opening resources, such as books or chess*ble, by enabling you to simply write a personalized book for yourself. I would prefer it not to be subscription based however. Edit: I have a new phone now and the app no longer works properly. Also the same common bugs have been around for years. Dev doesn't care. Very frustrating.
