Review from David Schwartz
Like the education it gives you I the game. I have played some chess recreationally in the past having been self taught. Even the simple board layout and rules section taught me some things I didn't know. I'm still going through the strategy section an i really had no idea how bad of a player I was before. My only complaint is I wish there was a tutorial of how to navigate around the app. If there is one it isn't clear and I haven't found it. I have been learning how the app works by trial and error. I would also like to get some hints on what to do in some of the practice lessons. Sometimes you move and move and move and the are all wrong. It tries to show you why they are wrong but sometimes it isn't really apparent unless you go out a few more moves down the line. I would have given this a 3.5 stars if that was an option, but rounded up to 4 because it does challenge your brain and isn't a mindless game app.
December 11, 2017Hello! We will introduce the function of the transition from practice to this section of the theory in the following updates.
Simply great. Easy to use. It has options to select slideshow mode(slide changes automatically with each move) or book mode in lessons. It even has an integrated chess engine to analyze yourself. It clearly tells the fundamental concepts in chess, which is very useful for newcomers. If they could add a PGN importer, then it would be its total domination in PlayStore. One problem is that the cost for full lessons is too much. It will cost huge if we buy other apps too.
It was a bit confusing to start. As a beginner I didn't know if I should try theory or practice, but it got better. Wish there were more practice rounds
Great app for learning, though some of the lessons have black making moves that make no sense. The layout also wasn't clear and I ended up playing scenarios without knowing there were lessons. Once I figured that out, it was a much better app.
Excellent chess teaching app! Second Chess King app I've used, and I'm planning to use many more and pay for the pro version. Challenging, fun puzzles that are extremely instructive; great theory explanations that have strengthened my game dramatically. Beautiful and powerful interface.
Very good practice! My only complaint is that the UI could be a bit better-designed, and use elements like text labels instead of icons. The overlay explaining some situations is a very good touch and should be used more heavily.
Seems like it will be a lot help for someone who wants to learn to strategize in chess. I've been using this app for a week now and am definitely improving. I plan on downloading some of the other apps offered from the developer for additional help.
