Chess'n Roll is a turn-based chess variant where every game starts on an empty board -- just the two Kings, facing off -- and every other piece enters play by rolling a die.
HOW A TURN WORKS
Each turn has three steps:
1. MOVE -- move a piece you already have on the board, by the exact same rules as classic chess. On turn one, that's just your King.
2. ROLL -- the die rolls itself the instant your move is done. No tapping required.
3. PLACE -- drag or tap the piece the die gave you onto an open square. Then it's your opponent's turn.
THE DIE
Five of the six faces hand you a Pawn, Knight, Bishop, Rook, or Queen to place. The sixth face is the King -- roll it and you get a special power: either CREATE any piece you like on an open square, or DESTROY one of your opponent's pieces outright.
SAME CHESS, NEW SHAPE
Every piece on the board -- including one you just placed -- always moves by classic chess rules. There's nothing to relearn about how pieces move. What's new is how they get there: the board fills up unpredictably, threats appear out of nowhere, and no two games open the same way twice.
A new piece can never be placed somewhere that would itself put the opponent's King in check, and pawns can never land on the back ranks. Reach the far rank with a pawn and it promotes, just like in classic chess.
WIN THE GAME
Capture the enemy King -- or checkmate it -- and you win.
PLAY AGAINST A REAL OPPONENT
You play White. Your Opponent (a built-in AI) plays Black and moves automatically, weighing captures, board control, and king safety on every move.
