About this game

Offline chess puzzles for a plane, the subway or a basement, plus board vision drills. 50,000 rated positions from real games ship inside the app, so training never waits for a connection. No account, no sign-up.

WHY A MOVE IS WRONG, NOT JUST THAT IT IS
Most puzzle apps answer a mistake with a red cross. This one says what happened: the piece you moved is taken next move, the mate you walked past was there, the right move wins a piece yours left alone. Then it names the idea behind the right move, such as a fork, a pin or a back-rank mate, so you learn chess tactics as patterns instead of one memorized move.

A RATING THAT FINDS YOU FAST
Everyone starts at the same number, which is nobody's real strength. Here your first ten puzzles move the rating four times faster, so the difficulty fits you after a handful of solves instead of a hundred losses. Puzzles are then picked around your rating, and about one in four is a position you failed at least a day ago.

BOARD VISION, NOT ONLY TACTICS
Chess board vision is a skill of its own: knowing where e4 is without counting from the corner. It is trained separately, with drills on chess coordinates:
• Find the square and name the square, against a timer
• Light or dark: decide without looking
• Knight moves and timed knight routes
• Blindfold coordinates, with the board hidden
• Piece vision: tap every square a piece attacks
A twelve-level path takes you from a single file to the whole board, then to speed, blind mode and a flipped board.

MODES
• All puzzles: rated solving, endless
• Daily chess puzzle: the chess puzzle of the day, and yesterday's stays open if you missed it
• Perfect run: one mistake ends it
• Blitz puzzles: five minutes, three mistakes
• Mate trainer: checkmate puzzles from mate in 1 to 5+, taken from real games
• Chess endgame studies: compositions with one winning idea
• Chess classics: eight queens, check the king, full-board knight routes

YOUR PROGRESS, IN PLAIN NUMBERS
A puzzle rating per tactical motif shows which pattern keeps letting you down. A heat map of the board shows the squares you miss most. Once a streak reaches three days, one missed day is forgiven, because a skipped evening should not erase three weeks.

LOOKS THE WAY YOU WANT

QUESTIONS
Can I train with chess puzzles offline?
Yes. After install, nothing needs the internet.

Are the 50,000 puzzles really on the phone?
Yes, the library is packed inside the app and unpacks in the background on first launch. The first 1,000 are unpacked first, so you can start right away.

Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-in anywhere.

Are these chess puzzles for beginners?
Yes. Your rating starts at 1200 and settles within ten puzzles, and each puzzle is picked within 200 points of it, so a new player never gets master-level positions.

How is a puzzle rated?
Each position carries a rating taken from real attempts on it. Your own rating is updated the Elo way after every solve or miss.

Puzzles come from the Lichess open database (CC0).
