Lightframer Pro is a director's viewfinder and location-scouting tool for cinematographers, directors, and location scouts. Choose the exact camera and lens you plan to shoot, and your phone's live preview is cropped and scaled to match that setup's true field of view - so the frame you compose in prep is the frame you get on set.

HOW IT WORKS
Pick a camera body and a lens from a built-in database of real cinema gear. Lightframer Pro computes the field of view from true sensor dimensions and focal length, applies anamorphic desqueeze where relevant, and draws framelines for your delivery ratio. You then capture stills and video through that exact frame, with a metadata strip burned in.

CINEMA CAMERA & LENS DATABASE
• 165 cinema camera bodies with true sensor dimensions, across 1,470 recording modes
• 1,441 lenses in 225 series - primes, zooms and anamorphics
• Anamorphic squeeze and cropped sensor modes handled, so the frame stays correct
• Field of view derived from sensor geometry, not an approximate crop factor

DIRECTOR'S VIEWFINDER
• Live preview matched to the selected camera and lens
• Framelines for 2.39:1, 1.85:1, 16:9, 4:3, 9:16 and custom ratios
• Adjustable frameline colour and shading opacity
• Grid overlays: thirds, golden ratio, crosshair, 4x4 and diagonals
• Coverage indicator when the chosen focal length is wider than the phone can capture
• Horizon level for keeping the camera square
• Portrait and landscape capture
• Reference Cam for quick stills without lens simulation

MANUAL CAMERA CONTROL
• Exposure compensation
• Manual focus on a diopter scale, or continuous autofocus
• Manual white balance from 2000K to 10000K, or auto
• Zoom rocker for zoom lenses, stepped selection for primes

LIVE LUT PREVIEW
• Preview cinema LUTs on the live image while you scout
• Optionally bake the LUT into exported video

SUN AND SHADOW PLANNING
• Sun path drawn over the live viewfinder, showing where the sun travels
• Scrub through the day to see the sun's position at any hour
• Sunrise, sunset, golden hour and blue hour times for your location and date
• 3D shadow map with building shadows, to read how light will fall on a location

CAPTURE WITH METADATA
• Stills and video recorded through the selected camera and lens frame
• Burned-in metadata strip: camera, lens, focal length, aspect ratio, sun position and measured colour temperature
• Optional auto-save to a Lightframer Pro album in your device gallery

GALLERY, ALBUMS AND EXPORT
• Organise scout images into albums with per-shot slate fields

Most viewfinder apps approximate the frame with a rough crop factor. Lightframer Pro is built on true sensor geometry and a deep, real-world gear database, so what you compose on location is what you shoot.

Requires Android 13 or later. Location permission is optional and is used for sun position and shadow mapping.
