Most metronome apps just keep time. Cognuro Tap measures how well you actually hit the beat — scoring every tap, showing you where you drift, and finding the tempo where your timing is sharpest.
How it works:
TAP starts with a short assessment. You tap along at 50 BPM with your left hand, then your right, then at 60 BPM alternating between both. That gives you a baseline: a clear picture of your timing accuracy and which hand leads or lags behind.
From there, TAP helps you find your speed. Most people have a range somewhere between 30 and 100 BPM where their timing holds together best. TAP narrows in on the tempo that fits you, and you can adjust it any time you want.
Then you train — and you can actually see whether it's working. Because TAP scores every session, your progress isn't a vague feeling. It's a number you can watch move.
Memory training, too
Alongside the timing work, TAP includes a word-memory tool. Pick your difficulty level, how many words you want, and how long you get to study them. The words scatter, and you rebuild the order from memory. Turn the difficulty up as you get better.
What you get:
-Adjustable metronome
-Left-hand, right-hand, and alternating tap assessments
-Accuracy scoring and feedback after every session
-Results saved so you can track your change over time
-Word-memory training with adjustable difficulty, word count, and study time
-No ads and no subscription — buy it once
Where it came from:
TAP was built at the Brain Rehab Clinic, drawing on nine years of work with people across a wide range of ages. The scoring approach, and the emphasis on finding each person's own tempo rather than assuming one speed suits everyone, came directly out of what we saw working in the clinic. We keep refining it as we learn more.
