What is the Ketogenic Diet?
---------------------------

Ketogenic diet is high in fat, adequate in protein and low in carbohydrates. Generally, the macronutrient ratio varies within the following ranges:

60-75% of calories from fat (or even more),
15-30% of calories from protein, and
5-10% of calories from carbs.

The exact amount of fat and protein is a matter of individual goals, needs and activity levels. Typically, most people on ketogenic diets don't consume over 5% of calories from carbohydrates.

In most cases, people following a keto diet won’t need to count calories. However, as they approach their ideal weight and their weight loss stalls, calorie counting can be helpful for fat loss.

Thank you, I appreciate it. --- You can tap on the year to change it - it's standard Android behaviour.

it was great to give me my macros but I expected to use it as a food log, and it is not. So basically it'll give you macros for vatious caloric restrictions and that is very helpful.

Just downloaded so anxious to explore. But, first thing I fought was entering my age...no way for me to enter year of birth w/o tapping thru 35 years. So, guess I'll be 35 yrs old instead of 70. Do you think that'll offset my calculations for figuring out macros, etc?

Hi Susan, yes the age you input will affect the calculations. Actually, all the data you input are used to calculate your final macros. I'll have a look to how we can improve the date entry. My understanding is that you can tap on the year and change it but that may not be the case on all devices / android versions.
