GhostMaps is navigation that doesn't watch you.

Every day, tens of thousands of automated license plate readers (ALPRs) quietly log where American drivers go. GhostMaps maps these cameras, routes you around them, and warns you when you're about to be photographed — all while keeping your own location private.

Turn-by-turn navigation, minus the surveillance.

HOW IT WORKS

GhostMaps shows known ALPR camera locations on your map, then plans routes that avoid them. Choose the level of privacy that fits your trip:

- Strict — Avoids cameras aggressively, accepting longer routes to stay unseen.
- Balanced — Detours around cameras only when it's reasonable. Up to ~20% longer.
- Aware — Takes the fastest route and simply shows you the cameras you'll pass, so you always know when you're being watched.

PRIVACY BY DESIGN

This is the part that matters most: GhostMaps is built so your movements stay yours.

- No accounts. No sign-up, no login, no profile.
- No tracking. We don't log your trips, your searches, or where you go.
- No data sales. We have nothing to sell, because we don't collect it.
- On-device by design. Your location is used on your phone to navigate — it never becomes a record we keep.

Camera location data comes from DeFlock and OpenStreetMap, publicly contributed databases of ALPR locations. Maps are powered by Mapbox and routing by OpenRouteService.

BUILT BY A SOLO DEVELOPER

GhostMaps has no investors and no business model built on your data. It's made and maintained by one independent developer who thinks navigation shouldn't come at the cost of being tracked. If the app is useful to you, optional tips help keep it free and the camera data current — but nothing is ever locked behind a paywall.

Note: GhostMaps shows the locations of publicly documented surveillance cameras for privacy and awareness. It does not help evade law enforcement or break any laws — it simply helps you understand and reduce how often your vehicle is logged by automated systems.
