Needs refinement The app should be a mirror image of the web site. It's sadly lacking many of the features, plus the best version (the website GUI) needs a lot of improvement. Color customization for different window backgrounds will help with the light grey text on blinding white backgrounds (awful! The designer should be fired). Customizable pin colors/sizes (I want to be able to quickly see where I'm sleeping) I can't believe there isn't any way to differentiate between pins other than number!
Awful just doesn't work Design is bad and glichy. Both web and app are hard to use and difficult to customize. Just doesn't meet the basics of a well developed app. I can't use for my road trip because its too cumbersome to map out routes and stops.
I love the premise and it helped me find some fun things on my road trips, but the logistics make this app difficult to use. Wish there was a better way to save things on lists, trip planner is awful to use, you sometimes lose your preferred search settings unexpectedly and have to start over, some sites disappear or can't be seen until you zoom way in. I'll still keep it but hoping for some improvements soon or I'll stick to the web for trip planning.
Really fun, not so useful on the road The website helped plan a multi-state road trip and allowed me to add all the fun road side America fun without straying too far off course. When I put in my destinations in the order planned to travel, it completely changed to what I guess it figured to be better. It took me 20 minutes of playing aeound with it to get the directions in the right order. It would be great if the app worked with the GPS, instead I had to get the address from this app then type it in Google maps.
This app sucks. I really like the actual roadtrippers website. Because of this I assumed I would like the app. That assumption was wrong. Very wrong. The app is really glitchy and slow. It's hard to zoom in on your map and it often freezes. Also the itinerary portion is completely worthless. On the website you can view your itinerary and see the addresses and travel times. On the app you can only see your destination's name, but can't view its address or any other info. Useless. Just print your itinerary and skip the app.
Good but room for improvement I want to go on a road trip from Colorado to Seattle, through San Diego. The app is very good but a bit confusing. It adds things in order, which can make a trip look weird, especially because apps generally use the quickest way. However, it can be edited and you will figure it out eventually. The other thing is, it's a bit slow.
