About this app

Cylux Child is the companion app for Cylux Parent, a parental control service. A parent installs this app on their child's phone and pairs it with their own Cylux account using a pairing code from the Cylux parent app.

Once paired, and with the permissions the parent grants during setup, Cylux Child helps parents:
• Block apps the parent chooses, and enforce daily screen-time limits and schedules
• Filter harmful websites
• See app and web activity
• Locate the device and get safe-place (geofence) alerts
• Receive an SOS alert when the child asks for help

HOW CYLUX CHILD USES THE ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE

Cylux Child uses Android's AccessibilityService API to deliver its core parental control features. The parent turns it on during setup, after a disclosure screen that explains what is collected, where it is sent, and links to our privacy policy.

With it, Cylux Child:
• detects which app is in the foreground, so it can close apps the parent has blocked and apply the parent's screen-time limits and schedules;
• reads the web address shown in the browser, so it can be checked against the parent's web filter;
• records app and website activity for the parent's dashboard;
• when the parent switches this on, stops the child from opening the Android settings screens used to remove Cylux or turn its protection off.

Cylux Child is a parental control app. The parent authorizes each of these actions from their own Cylux account and can switch any of them off at any time. Accessibility data is used only for the parental control features above — it is never used for advertising and never sold. Cylux Child is not an accessibility tool for people with disabilities and does not declare itself as one.

HOW CYLUX CHILD USES VPN
Cylux Child uses Android's VpnService API to filter websites on the device itself, so the parent's web filter works in every browser and app rather than only in ours.
This is a local, on-device filter. It inspects DNS lookups and blocks the domains the parent has chosen; lookups it allows go to public DNS resolvers, encrypted where the network supports it. No browsing traffic is routed or proxied through Cylux servers, and there is no Cylux VPN endpoint to route it to. If the parent chooses to pause the internet, the app drops traffic on the device — it does not redirect it anywhere.
Cylux Child is not a general-purpose, anonymising or region-changing VPN. It shows no ads and does not monetise traffic in any way.

PRIVACY AND VISIBILITY

This app runs visibly. It keeps a permanent notification while monitoring is active and always shows its own icon in the app list. It never hides itself. It is not designed for, and must not be used for, monitoring another adult without their knowledge.
