The same word association principles you love, but with some cool twists! Codenames App is the standalone version of the popular party game. It’s still Codenames you know, but with some wild rules, new twists, and mechanics.

Are no friends available to play?
That’s not a problem anymore! Thanks to the robust matchmaking system, Codenames App will put the game group together automatically. You can also challenge your friends in friendly games. The game is played asynchronously - your friends will play when they have some time. You don’t have to be online at the same time!
Last but not least, you can enjoy completely new solo challenges prepared by the others for you!

Want something extra to your Codenames experience?
Enjoy tons of new game modes to unlock. Challenge your opponents in a crossover between Codenames and Minesweeper, play wild Converter where the spymaster can change the color of two words each turn, or use Quantum Gadgets to touch two words instead of one when guessing. Ratings and reviews

A brilliant adaptation of the board game, updated to be asynchronous and with tons of variant modes and a progression system. You even unlock the variant modes as options to use in the for-fun games you can invite friends to =) On the day that I downloaded they were having some type of server issue that made the game regularly time out (and then flat-out fail to even log in, as the problem progressed), but it's been smooth sailing in the week since then!

It is a fun game, but I paid for it and often can't find a game to play because nothing is available. On top of it, it sometimes won't load causing me to time out on missions. Definitely making me much less interested in playing. Update: reducing my rating to 2, server is down nearly daily now when I try to play. I regret that I spent money on this.

Really fun! Just like the board game, but with extra modes and you can pick it up to play as little or as much as you like. 2 issues keep me from giving it a perfect 5: 1) I don't like typing in landscape mode. It would be nice to have a vertical option. 2) If I keep the game running—even in the background—it gets extremely laggy and needs to be restarted. (Pixel 8a) Thanks!
