Love the app, extremely well done. But my first game keeps crashing in age 2 as the card row is replenished. Submitted an email to their support, no response yet. Update: The developer went into my game specifically and fixed it, while also resetting our timers to make up for the down time. Have encountered no other problems or bugs since then. Everything fixed. Working great now, awesome app!
Just as good as the real thing, basically. If you like Through the Ages, this a great way to play it. Playing vs AI is great, and the optional alternate rule set makes asynchronous play with other people a lot better than it would be otherwise. Looks a lot better than boardgaming-online does. Only issue is that it's sometimes rather hard to see and keep track of everything, but that's a problem with mobile ports in general and not this particular app. This app does its best to fix this by allowing you to tap on and zoom in on cards.
Works great. For anyone out there on T-MOBILE or a service like project Fi that uses T-Mobile you're going to have issues getting it to work online via cell data. This is because T-Mobile uses IPV6 and this game doesn't work with that. I got around this by finally setting up my VPN on my phone. I use private internet access which only uses IPV4. You could probably do the same for free by setting up a VPN at home through your computer. Its a little hassle but there is a way to make it work. Other than that the game is great. In particular I love the multiple options on how to play online. Its super that so many online board games use asynchronous but sometimes I've got the time and the will to play a faster game that is live and I love that this game has those options.
The game is fantastic, but I need to remove some stars because the online mode does not work very well. First, it seems, strange as it sounds, that the online mode only works over Wi-Fi and not regular mobile data. Second, "It's your turn" notifications are not very reliable. We are playing a 4 players game, and only one of us is getting the notification, and not always. If these issues are fixed, the game would be one of the clearest 5 stars of the whole Store.----------- UPDATE: online mode now works flawlessly, so I am adding the 4th star. ------------- UPDATE 2: mobile data works most of the time, but on medium and hard challenges, IA players take waaaaaaaaaaay too long to play
Excellent game. Right after it was released it crashed every now and then, but I haven't had any problems since the most recent update. Haven't played the physical version but the UI and tutorial for this digital version make it easy to pick up. Excellent and addicting gameplay, I just uninstalled it because I was playing too much.
I always wanted to try the board game but was put off by the length and how fiddly it all seemed. This digital rendition takes out a lot of the accounting and makes for a fluid, engaging experience. The tutorial is indeed excellent and deserves its growing reputation! I have no need to play the tabletop game now. Great job!
