About this app

TTS Util is a utility Android app for synthesising text into audible speech.

Features:

• Read or create wave files from input text, clipboard text or text files using text-to-speech.


• Configure app-specific text-to-speech settings: engine, voice, pitch and speech rate.


• Custom silence for line endings, sentences, exclamations and questions.


• Text filters for omitting certain text elements from the audio.


• A playback-on-input mode for reading letters and words as they are typed.


• Buttons for retrieving commonly read text.


• Share menu entries and shortcuts for sharing input text to the app.

Requirements:

• A device running Android version 4.0.3 or higher.


• A separate Android text-to-speech engine app.

Ratings and reviews

Easy to use and highly customizable. I'd give a 5th, highly enthusiastic star for adding : 1) ⏮️⏪⏯️⏩⏭️ always visible in app, and preferably also ⏮️⏪⏯️⏩⏭️❎ in the notification drop-down. 2) Automatically scrolling to keep the current sentence in the app window, preferably also highlighting the current sentence.

TTS can't method read aloud the input of other applications 😞 It is recommended to make IME keyboard software, TTS only needs to read aloud the keyboard input

Have used when I lost my voice several times. Easy to use. No invasive ads. Very useful. Thank you for making this app

What’s new

* Update the application for Android 15.
* Make the application's input fields independently scrollable, if they're long enough.
* Make the reinitialize text-to-speech button bring up a confirmation dialog, if a task is in progress.
* Fix a UI error affecting the some parts of the application.
* Fix an error that can occur if an unusable engine is chosen in the settings.
* Change the minimum supported OS version to Android 5.0 (Lollipop).
* Other bug fixes and improvements.
