About this app

Workout Log answers one question, asked standing at a rack with ninety seconds
of rest left and a bar in front of you.

What did I do for this last week?

Open the exercise. The answer is the first thing on the screen - every set you
did last time, the reps, the load, and how many days ago - before you are shown
an empty row to fill in.

That sounds obvious. It is the thing almost every rival buries, because their
data model is a workout that contains exercises, so last week is a different
page and finding it is three taps and a scroll while your hands are chalky.

THE EXERCISE OWNS ITS HISTORY

You pick a movement from your own list rather than typing its name on every
row, so Bench Press never quietly becomes three exercises with a third of the
log each. Rename it and every set you ever did on it comes along.

Records are worked out from the log every time you look, never stored. Fix a
typo that claimed 100 instead of 10 and the record stops believing it,
immediately, which is the whole point of not storing it.

THE REST TIMER COUNTS DOWN TO A TIME, NOT FROM ONE

Start it, lock the phone, take it out again. Still right. It is not counting,
it is subtracting - so backgrounding it, rotating the phone, or the system
closing the app between sets change nothing at all.

Here is the honest limit, before you install rather than after: it will not
buzz your pocket while you are in another app. Doing that needs a background
service and a permission this app does not ask for. While the app is open the
screen stays awake and you get a short buzz at zero.

KILOGRAMS AND POUNDS, ON THE SAME PAGE

The unit belongs to the set, not to a setting, because a gym has a kilogram bar
and a pound dumbbell rack in the same room. Nothing is stored as a decimal that
can drift, so a record compares the two correctly.

IT DOES NOT COACH YOU

No programme. No target reps. No estimated one-rep max. No readiness score. No
green ticks and no red warnings.

This app knows nothing about you - not your injuries, not your experience, not
how you slept - and every number it could put beside yours would be a guess
wearing a uniform. It records, it arranges, and it puts last week in front of
you. Deciding what to do about that is yours.

WHAT ELSE IS IN IT

Your own list of movements, seeded with twenty-six to edit or delete.
A workout as it happens, and every past one, still editable.
Three records per movement: heaviest set, most reps, biggest session.
A chart per movement, with real gaps for real lay-offs.
A default rest per movement, because a heavy squat is not a lateral raise.
A note on any set, and on the workout.
A spreadsheet export, one row per set, and a backup file.

YOUR LOG STAYS ON YOUR PHONE

There is no account to make and no server to send anything to. Google's own
backup service is turned off in the manifest as well, so the promise holds
even against the one upload nobody chooses.

Remove the app and the log goes with it. Save a backup first - it is one
file, and restoring it on a new phone puts every set back.

WHAT IT IS NOT

It is not a scale, and nothing here asks what you weigh.

It counts no calories and tracks no food.

It connects to no watch, no strap and no health platform. Every number in here
was typed by the person who lifted it.

There is no camera, so there is nothing to film and nothing to be judged on.

Three permissions, all install-time, so the app never asks you for anything.
All three are for the ads that keep it free.
See last week's sets before you lift. Rest timer, records, fully offline.

What’s new

First release.

Open an exercise and you see what you lifted last time, before you see
an empty row. That is the whole app.

- Every set from last time, and how many days ago
- A rest timer that counts down to a time, so leaving the app is fine
- Heaviest set, most reps and biggest session, derived from the log
- Kilograms and pounds together; the unit belongs to the set
- A chart per exercise, with real gaps for lay-offs
- Export a spreadsheet, or save a backup
