CiteRight is a citation generator and similarity checker for students, researchers and academic writers. Build a bibliography in six referencing styles, then scan your essay against public web sources to find the passages that need a citation.

CITATION GENERATOR IN SIX STYLES
Create references in APA 7, MLA 9, Harvard, Chicago 17, IEEE and Vancouver. Fill in the form yourself, or paste a DOI or an ISBN and let the fields fill themselves. DOI details come from Crossref and ISBN details from Open Library. You always review what comes back, and nothing is saved until you say so. IEEE and Vancouver reference lists are numbered for you, because in those styles the number is the citation.

Books and textbooks, journal articles, websites and online articles, newspaper articles, and chapters in edited collections. Each source type has its own form, so the fields you are asked for are the fields that style needs.

SCAN A TITLE PAGE WITH YOUR CAMERA
Point your camera at a book cover or title page. Text recognition runs on your device, reads the page and drafts a reference for you to check and correct. Nothing is saved automatically.

ESSAY AND PAPER SIMILARITY CHECKER
See an overlap percentage for the whole document and for every sentence. Matching passages are highlighted, and you can open one to see the source it resembles along with that source's web address. CiteRight also tells you how much of your document it actually compared, and when a check cannot reach the web it says so plainly instead of showing you a reassuring zero. Paste your text, open a .txt or .docx file, or scan a page.

REWORD A FLAGGED PASSAGE
Open any highlighted sentence and get suggestions that keep your meaning while saying it more clearly, then cite the source. This is a writing aid for honest work. It is never a way to hide where something came from, and CiteRight does not present it as one.

ABOUT ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
CiteRight performs web based similarity matching. It is a study and drafting aid: it helps you find passages worth a second look and cite them properly. It is not a replacement for the originality systems your school, university or publisher uses. It does not have access to their private archives or student databases, and its results are not an institutional verdict. Similarity is a signal, not an accusation. Some overlap is normal, and quoting is perfectly acceptable when it is cited. Always follow your own institution's rules on referencing and originality.

CiteRight needs a CiteRight account with a confirmed email address, which keeps your reference library synced and tied to you rather than to one handset.

Fixes a crash on opening that affected version 0.9.0. If CiteRight would not start, this release restores it.

Everything from 0.9.0 is still here: scan to cite no longer freezes, you can check a web page or a YouTube link, and your report now says how many sentences were actually compared.
