Stride turns the walking your team already does into something they talk about.
Your employer sets up a group. You join with a link, and your steps appear on
the board beside everyone else's. Day, week, month, all time — and a chat
where the ribbing happens.
HONEST STEPS
Most step apps count the potholes. A phone in a boda or a car over a rough
road produces a rhythm that a pedometer reads as walking, and a leaderboard
built on that is one nobody believes twice.
Stride watches for when you are travelling and takes those steps back off
before anything is sent. Steps you walked are the only steps that count.
WHAT YOUR TEAM SEES
• A board for the day, the week, the month and all time
• Medals for the top three, and how many steps you need to pass the person
above you — the number that decides whether you take the stairs
• Streaks for the days you reach your goal
• Group chat, with one-tap cheers and nudges — and taunts, if the group
leaves them switched on
• Pinned announcements from whoever runs the group
• A Monday recap telling you what last week came to, beside the week before
• Mystery mode, which shows the ranking but keeps everyone's counts hidden
until the next day, so a challenge stays alive to the last morning
FOR WHOEVER RUNS IT
Set the group's daily goal, give it a start and an end, decide who can post,
hand out the invite link, make someone else an admin, and remove people who
have left. All from your phone.
WHAT YOUR EMPLOYER DOES NOT SEE
Stride sends one number a day: your steps. Not where you were, not when you
walked, not your heart rate. An admin of a group sees exactly what every
member sees — names, step counts and places. There is no report anybody can
pull that shows anything more.
Leave a group and you come off its board straight away. Your history is yours
and stays with you. Close your account from inside the app and all of it goes.
WHAT YOU NEED
An Android phone with Health Connect, which most phones running Android 8 or
later either have or can install free from Play. Stride asks for permission to
read your step count and to tell walking from travelling. Nothing else.
Count steps with your team. Vehicle rides don't count. One board, one goal.
