About this app

Amplo turns your phone up using Android's own audio effects, and brings an equalizer along.

It works with whatever is already playing: music, video, streaming or podcasts. Open the app with sound running, turn the boost on and adjust.

HOW TO USE

1. Start playing music or video in the app you already use
2. Open Amplo and turn the boost on
3. Raise the gain gradually until you hear the difference without distortion
4. Use the equalizer to shape lows, mids and highs

READ BEFORE INSTALLING

The effect depends on your device model and Android version. On some devices the manufacturer does not allow global audio adjustment, and in those cases the boost and the equalizer may have no effect.

When that happens, Amplo tells you on screen instead of pretending it worked. The About tab shows, effect by effect, what is available on your device.

Results also vary with the headphones or speaker you use.

Gain is capped at 15 dB to reduce distortion and protect the speaker.

HEARING WARNING

Loud volume over long periods can cause hearing loss. Use it in moderation, especially with headphones.

PRIVACY

Amplo works fully offline. It does not collect, send or share any data. It does not use the microphone and does not record audio.

There are two permissions: modify audio settings, which is what makes the boost possible, and notifications — the latter only to show the adjustment control in the status bar, when you turn that option on.
