I really like this app, and have for some time. It is gentle on my data rates, and audio quality has usually been fine. After this latest update, I've had some problems staying connected, and I've also had some glitches where I lost audio completely. The biggest complaint I have right now is the interface. Previously, I could join channels with a swipe and a tap, now it takes an additional step. Also, I could previously mute whenever there was a loud noise in my vicinity. Now, if I want to avoid blowing my server mattress eardrums out, I have to stay on the screen for the join server page, thus missing anything that is in the typed chat. It would get five stars from me if the interface was either rolled back or given the option to rollback. Edited after response: I have the audio connection bug whether I'm on WiFi or data. Audio will go out, I'll try to disconnect to re-establish connection, and I can't even disconnect from the voice server. I've tried closing the app completely and connecting to a different voice server,.After two or three minutes, it will timely treat me as disconnected so I can rejoin, but I will have to cycle my Bluetooth or it will just use my phone speakers.
Discord is by far the best messaging app I've come by so far. No errors, doesn't crash, doesn't take any such time to send messages, and notifications are 90% hit and not miss. Only gripe is the navigation for portable devices though. It's much easier on PC!
So my last review was kinda my own fault >w> it was because I had the app in a wired place on my phone, so it had problems connecting. So yeah. But, the app is amazing, and is a great way to make friends and stay in contact with them. One thing I've been seeing Discord blow up with is MineCraft servers, it makes it easier for players to stay connected, even when not playing the game. This also goes for pretty much ALL games! Apps like Skype can be really laggy (at least in my case) and I really never have problems with Discord.
Wonderful app but it seems as of late I can't pin messages anywhere other than private messaging and that has proven to be an issue as I am a mod for a server where I do need to pin messages. Was this a part of a recent update? If so, please change that. It's troublesome.
The app does what it's supposed to very well, but it happens to have minor errors during my experience. I greatly enjoy the notification management we're provided and immensely love the ease of managing servers/chat's. However, sometimes I'll randomly disconnect without knowing and have a message sent once multiply by 3, sometimes I'll open discord up and nothing will appear aside from the basic layout, and sometimes I won't be able to talk in voice chat with or without headphones.
App has UI problems and issues that were reported long ago as searching for them shows. Every update that changes something seems to be the only option rather than additional one like disabling/enabling notifications on mobile while the desktop app is running. Personalization is very important in an app like this, and if it wasn't unfortunately the best messaging option currently available because of alternatives either being utterly broken or having no people using them I wouldn't consider it worth using at all. Add more options for UI and notifications, that applies to desktop app too.
- Fixed a bug where sometimes microphone input would not work in voice channels.
