SYMBIOTIK is an application used by health workers/health cadres and patients to monitor compliance with taking antibiotics.
SYMBOTIC Innovation is community mobilization to increase independence and change community behavior in using antibiotics correctly (compliantly and appropriately) in order to control antimicrobial resistance.
Cases of Anti-Microbial Resistance, especially in MDR-TB, are estimated to cause 160,000 deaths in 2022. The results of the 2017 study, 44.3% of respondents (136 respondents out of 307) used antibiotics without a doctor's prescription for themselves and 8.8% (27 respondents out of 307) for relatives/friends (Mahardika, 2017)
Meanwhile, according to research results in 2024, 76.9% of respondents (10 respondents out of 33) with low levels of medication adherence had poor quality of life (Ema, 2024)
It is hoped that with this SIMBIOTIC application, the potential for patients to die due to antimicrobial resistance will tend to decrease, as well as increasing patient compliance in taking their antibiotic medication.
