CHESS brings you Stockfish, the strongest open-source chess engine, right on your phone.
Whether you have just learned the rules or you want a real fight, there is an opponent at your level.

■ Nine difficulty tiers
Spin the wheel and pick your opponent, from a gentle beginner to an engine at full strength.

· Under 500 — Novice
· 800 / 1100 / 1400 — Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
· 1700 / 2100 — Expert, Master
· 2500 / 2700 — Grandmaster, Super Grandmaster
· 3000+ — AI Master

■ 300 tactics puzzles
Train your eye for checkmate. The deeper the tier, the further ahead you must calculate.

· Beginner — 100 puzzles, mate in 1
· Intermediate — 100 puzzles, mate in 2
· Advanced — 100 puzzles, mate in 3

Stuck? The hint shows which piece to move without playing it for you.
When a position has more than one solution, every move that still forces mate is accepted.

■ Three ways to play
· You vs Computer — choose your colour and the engine's strength
· Computer vs Computer — watch two engines of different strength play it out
· Two Players — share one device. The board turns 180° between moves so
the player sitting opposite always sees it the right way up

■ Review every game
Games are saved automatically (last 60). Step through them move by move, and tap
"Suggest" to compare what you played against the engine's best — Best, Good,
Inaccuracy, Mistake or Blunder. During a game the hint marks the origin square
of the best move without making it for you.

■ Track your progress
Every game updates your Elo rating. Start at 600 and climb through nine ranks.

■ Learn chess
Twelve lessons, from how each piece moves to castling, en passant and promotion.
Not just text and diagrams — each lesson plays an animated demo of the real moves.
