Subscription. And an option to pay even more for no reason. Developer doesn't understand what "generosity" is.

You don't have to pay anything, the app is absolutely free! You have an option to remove ads, if you don't like them for some reason and you are ok to pay a small monthly fee for that. But that is not a requirement, all the features of the app are available without any payments. 🤷‍♂️
