About this app

Are you tired of picking up your phone just to check the time, only to find yourself an hour deep into a mindless social media scrolling session? You are not alone. Our brains are hardwired to seek out instant gratification, and modern apps are expertly engineered to exploit this loop. They give you a quick hit of dopamine, keeping you hooked and perpetually distracted from what actually matters in your day. But what if you could take back control without giving up your favorite apps entirely?

Enter ScrollBrake. We don't believe in absolute restrictions, complicated website blockers, or locking you out of your own phone—because going cold turkey usually just makes you want it more. Instead, ScrollBrake uses a simple psychological technique: introducing friction. When you tap one of your most distracting apps, a short puzzle appears first. That pause gives your brain a moment to catch up and ask, "Do I really want to do this right now, or am I just bored?"

HOW IT WORKS IN 3 SIMPLE STEPS
1. Select your triggers. Choose the apps that hijack your attention—Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, games, or anything else on your phone.
2. Meet the puzzle gate. The next time you open one, a math, word, logic, or visual puzzle appears instead of the feed. It usually takes a few seconds.
3. Solve and decide. Complete the puzzle to continue, use a weekly skip, or close the gate and walk away. You are always in charge.

KEY FEATURES
Puzzle friction, not a timer. A countdown is easy to wait out. A short puzzle interrupts the reflex before the feed loads, so you choose instead of scroll.

Puzzle types you can toggle. Math, Word, Logic, and Visual. Mix them in Settings so the gate stays fresh.

Streaks and badges. Track the days you stay in control. Unlock achievements as you keep solving instead of scrolling.

Weekly skips. Need a pass? Free includes 2 skips per week. Premium includes 5. Skips reset on Monday.

Optional reminders. Turn on gentle nudges if you want them. They stay off until you enable them.

Works with the apps you already have. No new launcher. Pick any installed app to delay.

FREE VS PREMIUM
Free: delay up to 3 apps, 2 skips per week, ads on Free.
Premium (optional auto-renewing monthly subscription via Google Play): unlimited delayed apps, 5 skips per week, no ads.
Cancel anytime in Google Play subscriptions.

WHY CHOOSE ScrollBrake?
Reclaim your time. You don't have to uninstall the apps you like. You just stop opening them on autopilot.

Boost focus. The reflex to check is what wrecks deep work. A few seconds of friction is often enough to stay with what you were doing.

Build a healthier habit. We don't lock you out. We give you a moment to notice the urge—and choose.

ACCESSIBILITYSERVICE API

ScrollBrake uses the AccessibilityService API so it can detect when an app you chose to delay comes to the foreground and show a short puzzle before that app opens.

What is accessed: only the package name of the app that is opening. The service does not read screen content, passwords, messages, or keystrokes (canRetrieveWindowContent is false).

How it is used: package names are compared on this device to your delayed-app list. Matching apps show the puzzle gate; all other apps are ignored.

Sharing: Accessibility data stays on this device. It is not collected, sold, or shared with third parties.

This app is not an accessibility tool for people with disabilities. You can turn the service off anytime in Android Settings → Accessibility.
Block distracting apps with a quick puzzle. Beat phone addiction & stay focused.
