Easy RPG Map is the shared map for people who play tabletop roleplaying games around a real table. You prepare the dungeon, and during the game you reveal it one room at a time on your players' phones.
Made by a roleplayer for other roleplayers: something you pull out in thirty seconds and use without thinking, not a program to learn the night before.
Playing is free and stays free: the session at the table, the players, the treasure, the backups and the packages you pass to another GM cost nothing, and there are no ads. You only pay to prepare beyond a certain point: the first five maps you create are free, then a one-time unlock removes the limit.
HOW IT WORKS
At home you load the dungeon floor plan — a scan, a photo, an image you downloaded — and you lay as many as you like on the same table. You draw the outline of the rooms on top of it and write your own notes: traps, numbers, whatever you need.
At the table you open the session. The players connect from their phones and see empty parchment: the fog of war is on their side of the screen, and only you can lift it. When the party opens a door, you tap the room and confirm: from that moment the room is on their screens. If they go back, a long press and the room returns to the dark.
During the game you can draw marks that everyone sees the instant you draw them — an arrow, a circle, "the troll is here" — and bring everyone to the same view with a tap.
WITHOUT THE APP
Someone shows up with a phone they will not install anything on: you show them the code, they scan it, and the map opens in their browser — the revealed rooms and the public marks, same as everyone else. From the browser they watch: for the items, the app is needed.
THE TREASURE
You put items in the rooms too, with what it takes to find them: when the players rummage, the treasure opens on their phones and they share it out themselves. Of an item they know what they are meant to know — what it looks like, what it is worth, what it really is — and they ask you to identify it one step at a time.
WHAT STAYS YOURS
The room outlines and your notes never leave your phone, and it is not a matter of good behaviour: on the channel that connects the phones there is simply no way to say them.
NO INTERNET, NO ACCOUNT
The phones talk to each other directly over your home Wi-Fi and find each other on their own: whoever has the app types nothing and signs up nowhere. Whoever comes in from the browser scans the table's code, and that is all it takes. Where there is no network — at a game shop, on holiday, in a basement — turn on your phone's hotspot and it works the same. Nothing goes through the internet, and nothing is collected: your maps stay on your phone.
CAMPAIGNS, AND ONE FILE THAT TAKES EVERYTHING
If you play with more than one group, every map and every item belongs to its campaign: tonight's map is not something you hunt for among thirty. And all of it fits in a single file, to put aside or to carry elsewhere; out of one map you make a package for another GM.
OTHER THINGS IT DOES
• A grid over the map, with the spacing you choose, the same for everyone
• Several saved maps, and switching map takes the players along
• Automatic saving: there is no "save" button
• Player view, to check what they are seeing before you reveal
• A freehand brush for the rooms that refuse to be outlined
• Eraser, undo, and clearing the marks of a scene in one gesture
• Buttons you can move left or right and reorder, for whichever hand is free
• The screen stays on while you play
• A reminder for what stays in the pockets and never reaches the sheet
• Emptying a map to start over, instead of deleting it
• A guide inside the app, in seven tabs
In English, Italian, French, German and Spanish.
