The app should work well, but the icons it uses are horrendously bad. a flat grey circle for "overcast", and a literal question mark and lock symbols shows up at the end of my first drive with no explanation at all. No description at all in what the lock or ? actually means. Why not clouds for overcast like every other weather app I've ever seen? I don't get what they were thinking. So it isn't usable for me.

The app uses the sky color because, having icons for sunny, partly sunny, partly cloudy and cloudy would add a ton of visual noise to the presentation. And unless there is weather the cloudiness of a route is inconsequential to decision making. The lock icon is a limitation of the free version where weather is limited by distance.

A good driving weather app - worth the subscription price. Visually I find it difficult to distinguish between some icons (e.g. heavy vs moderate) - might be helpful if tapping an icon gave a word description. It seems that occasionally when zoomed out the icons are for a road near your route, but not actually on it, and zooming in shows a different forecast on your actual route. The ability to adjust starting time and see weather, temperature, and wind helps avoid hazardous road conditions.

Thx for your review. The forecast would not be different if it were on the route as NWS data doesn't provide pin point accuracy but covers an area. Clustering gives a cleaner read, the worst conditions are shown when zoomed out then more data is filled in when zooming in. You can turn off clustering in the settings. 350 char max - email for details

A solid trip planning tool. If you're in a speed governed truck, remember to adjust that on the app. I'm limited at 65mph, so I set the app for 90% of the speed limit. Edit one year later: I'm changing from 5 to 4 stars. It's still a good app for trip planning in inclement weather, but too many features are hidden behind the pay-wall. Now I'm off to drive a 70ft long, 13"6' tall box into hurricane Debby with no wind speed numbers to work with. Wish me luck!
