Measure anything with your camera. FreeRuler turns your phone into an AR measuring
tool — tape measure, rangefinder, protractor, spirit level and floor-plan scanner
in one app.

Every tool is free. No ads, no subscriptions, no accounts, no tracking.


12 MEASUREMENT MODES

• TAPE — continuous distance from a pinned start point, with a graduated ruler
• LENGTH — point-to-point and multi-segment distance
• HEIGHT — vertical rise from a base point to an aimed target
• DIST — live rangefinder to whatever the reticle rests on
• ANGLE — angle between two arms sharing a vertex
• AREA — polygon area and perimeter from three or more corners
• PATH — walk-to-measure, sampling your trail as you move
• CIRCLE — diameter, radius, area and circumference from a centre and edge point
• CYL — cylinder volume from radius and height
• VOLUME — guided four-point box measurement
• ROOM — floor corners plus wall height gives floor area, wall area and volume
• LEVEL — gravity-sensor bubble spirit level

BUILT TO BE ACCURATE

• Point smoothing averages reticle hits across frames to cut jitter
• Snapping locks onto existing points so chained and closed shapes stay exact
• Depth API support lets hit-tests land on real objects, not just flat planes
• Depth occlusion fades lines passing behind objects instead of drawing over them
• An honest accuracy chip reads HIGH, MED or LOW so you know when to trust a number
• Real centimetre and inch tick marks are drawn along every measured line


A SCENE, NOT A SINGLE READING

Finished measurements stay rendered in the AR scene instead of vanishing when you
start the next one. Measure a whole room, walk around it, then tap any label to
delete just that one.


UNITS AND PRECISION

Centimetres, millimetres, inches or yards, with selectable precision down to
0.01 cm. Your choice is remembered between sessions.


HOME SCREEN WIDGETS

• Last measurement — the most recent reading with relative time and a count
• Quick tools — launch straight into TAPE, AREA, LEVEL or ROOM
• Counter — a dot-matrix stat tile showing saved measurements and the latest value


PRIVACY

FreeRuler has no backend, no accounts, no ads and no analytics. Measurements,
photos and reports are stored in the app's own storage on your device. Nothing is
uploaded anywhere. The camera is used only for AR tracking, entirely on-device.


REQUIREMENTS

FreeRuler needs Google Play Services for AR (ARCore), so Google Play offers it
only on ARCore-supported devices. Depth occlusion and object hit-testing need a
depth-capable device; every other tool works on any supported phone.

As with any AR measuring app, readings depend on lighting, surface texture and how
well your device has tracked the room. Scan slowly, watch the accuracy chip, and
do not use FreeRuler where an error would be costly or unsafe.

Anyone sizing furniture before buying it, planning a renovation, quoting a job,
checking clearances on site, or sketching a floor plan without unrolling a tape.
