The Operation Zero App is designed to protect ECG's revenue against consumption abuse. This
involves finding customers involved in electricity theft and billing them for their entire dues or
disconnecting their service if they do not pay.
About 4 out of every 10 customers face consumption issues, such as illegal connections, faulty
meters, or burnt meters. These issues significantly reduce ECG's revenue, which is vital for
covering operational costs and payments to our suppliers, including upstream power suppliers
and independent power producers.
The inability to secure this revenue can lead to difficulties in paying these suppliers, which, in
turn, results in frequent power outages. The Operation Zero App is strategically developed to
confront these issues head-on with the ultimate goal of putting an end to Dumsor.
