TreeNote organizes your knowledge in a tree. Every note can hold a page of content. Every page can branch into nested children, as deep as you need. Free and offline-first by default — start writing without an account. Cross-device cloud sync is available as an optional paid feature.
Why a tree?
The world's knowledge isn't a flat list, and your notes shouldn't be either. Project Alpha has subprojects. Subprojects have meeting notes, code snippets, decisions, follow-ups. TreeNote lets you nest as deeply as your work demands and find anything in seconds.
Features (all free, no account needed)
• Deeply nested tree — unlimited depth. Expand and collapse branches to focus on what matters now.
• Tasks — turn any node into a task with a tappable checkbox and an optional due date.
• Tasks view — a single screen listing every open task across the tree, grouped by Overdue, Today, and Future.
• Fast full-text search — search every note title and body, with snippet previews of each hit.
• Code mode — flip any note into monospace rendering for technical content (config files, command output, JSON).
• Tap-to-open hyperlinks — URLs are detected and underlined; open one after a confirmation step.
• Drag to reorder and reparent — long-press any node and drag to rearrange siblings or relocate to a new parent.
• Move via menu, sort children, quick capture into Inbox.
• Subtree export and import — share or back up a slice of your tree as a .tree file.
• Light, dark, and system themes; three font sizes.
• Undo on delete and move.
TreeNote Cloud (optional, subscription)
• Sync your entire notebook across all your Android and Windows devices.
• 14-day free trial, then $2.99/month or $29.99/year (regional pricing applies).
• Cancel anytime in Google Play; your local data stays on the device.
• Notes are encrypted in transit and stored in our managed US database. Full details in the privacy policy.
What we still don't do
No advertising. No analytics or telemetry. No third-party tracking. No selling data. No nagging popups. Cloud sync is opt-in only — the free local mode never sends your notes off your device.
Who it's for
• Engineers, sysadmins, and technical writers maintaining configuration notes, runbooks, and personal knowledge bases.
• Students and researchers building nested study notes.
• Anyone who wants a fast, hierarchical notebook — offline-only if you prefer, cross-device when you want it.
Backup and portability
Every notebook can be exported to a single human-readable JSON file (.tree extension). Import on another device, share with a collaborator, or archive to your own backups. The format is open and stable.
Privacy
Offline mode requires no account and collects no data. Cloud sync mode stores your notes and email on our managed database in the United States for delivery to your other signed-in devices. Full details, subprocessor list, and your rights: https://treenoteapp.com/privacy
