Clanker is an AI character chat app where you design the companions you talk to. Build an original AI character with its own personality and avatar, or pick a ready-made one, then chat by text or call them for a live voice conversation that feels like a real phone call.
WHAT MAKES CLANKER DIFFERENT
• AI memory that learns — your AI companion remembers your conversations across sessions, and builds knowledge from documents you upload (PDFs, Word docs, images) and from live web search mid-conversation.
• Real-time voice chat — natural, hands-free voice calls with your AI character. Interrupt mid-sentence and it adapts; ask it to search the web and hear results spoken aloud.
• Enhanced Privacy Mode — a per-character toggle keeps that character's memories and chat history strictly on your device, never stored in the cloud. Private AI chat, your choice per character.
• Own your data — export a character's complete memory in OKF, the open knowledge format introduced by Google Cloud. Edit it in Obsidian or any Markdown editor, back it up, restore it, or clone a new character from it.
• Open source — Clanker's code is public on GitHub. Verify how your data is handled instead of taking our word for it.
• Roleplay and everyday chat — story-driven roleplay, a creative writing companion, or a virtual friend to talk to.
Chatting is free to try. A subscription unlocks more conversations and features.
