I wanted to make my own physical flash cards to learn hiragana and katakana and this did that for me and more! I'm successful learning the basics and gaining confidence in what each character sounds like so I can start/begin my Japanese learning journey. There is so much available for free and the paid options are such a great deal it might as well be free. The only thing I wish this app would include would be a speaking segment. Other than that, it is perfect for what I need. Thank you so much!

If you just want to get started with basic reading and phonetic skills, this app is excellent. You get a lot of things for free, these being practice and ‘exams’ for Hiragana, Katakana, and JPN N5. As of right now, if you buy the premium version, you’ll then get access to levels N4-N1, which you pry won’t need if you’re only trying to get your foot in the door. I highly recommend using this, just make sure you have a pair of headphones for when you’re asked to identify a word or symbol by sound.

Good application, as a suggestion to be better. There should be progress information while learning vocabulary, so that users do not feel like their practice is going on without knowing when it will end. In addition, I think that when each practice category is finished (100%) it would be better to exit the lesson immediately so that users can know that the lesson is finished & can continue to the next level lesson, because I studied hiragana for almost 30 minutes and felt like I was never finish
