About this app

Every training app tracks what you did. Almost none track what you've recovered from.

Tapertrophy reads what you log — your sleep, your sessions, how you're actually feeling — and tells you what your log says about training hard today.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT

A set of twelve curls and a heavy single take the same minute. They don't cost the same. Every other training log treats them identically. This one weights each session by what it actually demanded, and that difference is the whole product.

It also asks about irritability, because that's the thing most lifters notice in themselves before their numbers drop.

IT SHOWS ITS WORK

Tap the number and the whole calculation opens up. Sleep debt, a hard session two days ago, feeling above your usual — every line, signed, with the arithmetic visible. No black box, no proprietary score you're asked to trust.

WORKS WHEN YOUR WEEK DOESN'T

Every program-based app assumes a fixed weekly split. This one assumes nothing. Shift work, kids, travel, a week that fell apart — it reads what actually happened.

WHAT YOU DO EACH DAY

Four sliders and hours slept. Log a session in three taps, or tap rest day. Under a minute, most days under thirty seconds.

Everything else is optional: food as a rough tag, your own supplements list, a five-second reaction test.

When the app says back off, there's a short library explaining what actually helps — tiered by how strong the evidence is, and honest about which ones aren't supported. Sleep extension is the only entry marked as strongly supported, because it's the only one that is.

NO JARGON

Tap any word you don't know, and it explains itself. If you're newer to lifting, use the plain-language effort scale instead of RPE numbers — "hard, maybe two more reps" — and the app reads it the same way.

WHAT IT DOESN'T DO

It doesn't write your program or pick your exercises.
It doesn't tell you what weight to lift.
It doesn't need a watch, a ring, or a chest strap.
It doesn't have an account, a server, or anything to sign up for.
It doesn't send your data anywhere, because there's nowhere to send it.
It doesn't charge monthly.
It doesn't count calories or track your weight for you.
It doesn't nag, and it has no streaks to break.

An app that punished you for resting would be arguing with itself.

YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS

Everything lives on your phone. No account, no server, nothing transmitted. Works completely offline.

Export a full backup any time — free, whether or not you've purchased anything. Import it back on a new phone and everything returns.

WHAT IT COSTS

Free to download. Logging and today's read are free permanently.

After 28 logged days, accumulated history and trends unlock for a one-time $9.99. No subscription, no recurring charge.

WHY IT TAKES A FEW WEEKS

The app compares you against your own normal, not a population average. That takes about four weeks of your history to fill in — and it tells you where it's up to rather than showing a confident number it hasn't earned.

You can shortcut most of it by logging your last two weeks when you install.

THE HONEST PART

Tapertrophy isn't a doctor and doesn't pretend to be one. It can't measure anything about your body — it estimates from what you log. Nothing in it is medical advice.

If something feels wrong — pain that isn't ordinary soreness, fatigue that won't lift — talk to a doctor or a qualified professional.

Tapertrophy: from taper, to deliberately back off, and -trophy, from Greek trophē, growth. Growth that comes from backing off.
Recovery readiness for lifters. No wearable, no account, no subscription.
